Kemi Asekun-Shittu

Broadcaster · Public affairs communication and strategy · Abuja and Lagos

Twenty years on Nigerian air. I have run a station, produced a weekly national policy programme, and now speak for a presidential campaign. When a story needs explaining on air, the studios call.

On national television

Interviewed as a commentator

What I am good at

Executive communications

Statements, speeches and public positioning. The words that go out under a name and have to hold when they are read back the next morning.

Taking apart a false story

Propaganda travels because it is simple and it is early. I answer it the same way, in plain words, before it sets hard enough to become what people remember.

Making the complicated plain

Twenty years of turning what an audience would switch off from into something they stay for, which is the whole job on radio and it does not change on television.

Subjects I carry

Politics and the 2027 race

I speak for the Presidential Campaign Council and I have argued its positions live on TVC and Channels.

Government messaging

Executive statements, public engagement and misinformation response, handled daily at the centre of government.

Mining and minerals policy

The Solid Minerals Roadmap, a weekly programme explaining the sector’s reforms in plain language.

Education and examinations

I recorded the national examination study text, and I have been quoted on sentencing and reform in the Mmesoma case.

Women in politics

The subject of my Premium Times column on who gets counted in political calculation.

Fuel, subsidy and the borders

The subject of my 2026 column, carried by two outlets.

JAMB study texts, audio editions

I recorded the audio editions of the JAMB study text, the novel every candidate for the national university entrance examination is examined on. The work runs through JAMB’s Equal Opportunities Group, so candidates with visual impairments sit the same exam on the same terms. The Life Changer in 2024, The Lekki Headmaster in 2025.
